What is life coaching and how is it different than therapy?
Life coaching is a process where the coach promotes the working through of personal or career challenges by asking the client thought-provoking questions that ultimately lead the client to his or her own answers and solutions. The client is considered the expert in this process because they are the expert in their own lives. The coach is the guide and holds the client’s agenda.
In therapy, the therapist is seen as the expert in the therapist/client relationship and the focus is on getting the client from dysfunctional to functional. In coaching, the focus is on getting the client from already functional to functioning OPTIMALLY. Yes, you can reach an optimal level of functioning! Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?!
